Hi, nice to meet you.
Welcome to the most progressive psychiatry practice in the state of Arizona.

Paperflower Psychiatry is a holistic, neuroaffirming and inclusive practice specializing in psychiatric evaluations and medication for ages 5+ in Arizona. Sometimes psychiatric services can be intimidating but we value a more relaxed, authentic, humble and casual approach in which we can have a conversation, laugh, and figure out a solution together. Our goal is patient comfort, trust and empowerment. We are all human and all have our journeys. Your journey is valued.

At Paperflower, we are here to help in your mental health journey. We aim to be accessible by taking major commercial insurances + offering applications to have a sliding scale for financial hardship & payment plans.  We are a teaching practice that integrates student nurse practitioners into our care system, helping you receive more personalized care while we help foster empathy and quality care for future healthcare providers. We are not afraid to talk to you about how tragic the state of the world is right now.  Healthcare is political. And we won't judge you for smoking weed, promise.

we were the first psychiatric practice in the state of arizona to be openly political and allied with the LGBTQIA+ community.

we are changing the experience of mental health care.

Whole person

You are more than a "patient" or a "set of symptoms." Understanding you as a person, what you enjoy, your strengths, and your history are all important to care.

This means we'll talk about your pets, your hobbies, anything that is important to you.. your future and your dreams. All of these encompass you.

For us to be apart of your journey, we want to know you, too.

cultural humility

Understanding the components of culture along with history and intergenerational trauma is important, and will be prioritized throughout care.

We are openly anti-racist. We are openly allies with the LGBTQIA+ community.

We openly question ourselves and our biases. We are aware of our privilege.

comfort

Going to a new provider (especially in mental health) is anxiety-provoking, scary and vulnerable.

Your comfort will be prioritized throughout the appointments, and measures will be taken together to make sure we can maintain an open, therapeutic relationship.

We want it to feel easy to come see us.

team oriented

We all have equal footing in decision making, and will approach recovery as a team.

Inclusion of your therapist, primary care doctor, family, doula or other personnel upon request will be honored. Medication is not the only component to wellness.

We are not here to force medication -- we are here to give options.

trauma informed

The priority is to avoid re-traumatization, maintain a sense of safety, and make sure you feel empowered in care. Our focus will be on rebuilding trust, control and choice on your medication and treatment plan.

If psychiatric care has been traumatic in the past for you, then this is your time for a new start.
